Eric Stang will join the cast of off-Broadway's Million Dollar Quartet as Jerry Lee Lewis on October 17 at New World Stages. Current cast member David Abeles plays his final performance October 16.
Million Dollar Quartet marks the New York stage debut for Stang, who served as an understudy in the show's Chicago production. He is also a singer/songwriter and leads the band the Eric Stang Project.
Set during the historic December 4, 1956, recording session that took place in Sun Records Memphis' studio, Million Dollar Quartet brings together iconic musicians Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis as they perfrom some of rock 'n roll's biggest hits. The show originally opened at Broadway's Nederlander on April 11, 2010 and earned three Tony Award nominations including Best Musical. After 489 performances, the musical closed and transferred to off-Broadway's New World Stages on July 28.
The cast currently features Eddie Clendening as Elvis Presley, Lance Guest as Johnny Cash, Robert Britton Lyons as Carl Perkins, Victoria Matlock and Dyanne and James Moye as Sam Phillips.
